Late in 1949 some Kansas counties ran out of plates so the state halted production of 1950 plates and produced more 1949 plates. The paint rollers were not thoroughly cleaned after producing the 1949 plates and some 1950 plates have a black tint ton them from leftover black paint that was left on the rollers. This plate has a quite noticeable black tint.
