Here are some of my favorite plates in my collection.

Prestates:  Before the state required vehicle registration in July of 1913, many cities in Kansas required vehicles to be registered with the city.  Some cities just issued the vehicle owner a number and it was the responsibility of the owner to have a plate made. These were often made of leather with metal numbers and letter attached.  Other cities provided the plate and these were most often made of porcelain, brass, or aluminum.  Most of these plates were issued between 1908 and July, 1913.  I am always looking to buy Kansas, city issued, prestate plates like these.
